I held off on doing this because I didn't get too many questions, but lately I've been getting a handful of the same questions over and over again. So here I go, I hope this helps (: And if there was something left un-answered feel free to ask.

General Doll Questions:

:bulletblack: What are all these abbreviations and terms?
:bulletgreen: BJD = Ball-Jointed Doll
:bulletgreen: ABJD = Asian Ball-jointed Doll (Also known as Dollfies)
:bulletgreen: LE = Limited Edition
:bulletgreen: Fullset = A doll that comes with everything: clothes, wig, eyes, faceup (which is make-up) and sometimes shoes.
:bulletgreen: SD = Super Dollfie
:bulletgreen: MSD = Mini Super Dollfie

:bulletblack: Which doll is which?
:bulletgreen: Lucien: tristiahna.deviantart.com/art/…
:bulletgreen: Matthias: tristiahna.deviantart.com/art/…
:bulletgreen: Seraphim: tristiahna.deviantart.com/art/…
:bulletgreen: Skylar: tristiahna.deviantart.com/art/…

:bulletblack: What mod/company are your dolls?
:bulletgreen: Lucien: Dream of Doll and is a DOT Code no.2
:bulletgreen: Skylar: Dream of Doll and is a DOC Cyma
:bulletgreen: Seraphim: DollZone and he is a Limited Edition Asura
:bulletgreen: Matthias: Doll Family (H-Line) and he is a LingFeng

:bulletblack: Where do you get your dolls from?
It varies. Most companies do not sell directly to the public, so you have to buy from 'dealers'

:bulletgreen: Lucien and Skylar came from Dream of Doll which sells directly to the public.
:bulletgreen:Seraphim came from a dealer called Junky Spot
:bulletgreen: Matthias came from a seller on ebay, though a dealer called Mint on Card also deals the company he comes from.

:bulletblack: How much are they?
It depends on the doll, size, and company. ABJD can range between $200 - over $1,000 depending on weather or not its an LE, Fullset, or just an expensive company.

:bulletblack: Where do you get their clothes? And generally how much are they?
Ebay haha. I found buying from companies got horribly expensive with shipping. You just have to pay close attention to sizing when buying from ebay. Two sellers I have bought from, that I highly recommend are: Mybayer2008 and Boggie0909 Prices can vary drastically depending on the outfit. Most doll clothes cost the same as normal human clothes though. There are fullset outfits from certain companies that can cost as much as $100+ but I tend to buy everything seperate and try not to exceed $30 per item.

:bulletblack: How big/tall are they?
:bulletgreen: Lucien: 64cm
:bulletgreen: Matthias: 62cm
:bulletgreen: Skylar: 45cm
:bulletgreen: Seramphim: 70cm

:bulletblack: Can you get customized dolls? Or do you have to do it yourself?
To customize a doll I would suggest buying doll "parts" instead of a pre-assembled doll. There you can choose the body, choose the head, buy your specific wig and eyes, and do your own face-up. I do not know of a company that does special orders, so that is your best option.

:bulletblack: Did you give them ages?
:bulletgreen: Lucien is 18-19
:bulletgreen: Matthias is 15-16
:bulletgreen: Skylar is around 12 (undecided)
:bulletgreen: Seraphim is perceived ageless.

:bulletblack: What are their genders?
They are all boys, haha.

:bulletblack: Are they seriously gender specific?
Yes. They are anatomically correct. The boys have "male" gender parts, the girls have breasts.

:bulletblack: Why do your boys look like girls? (Do you like it like that?)
Most (not all) ABJD boys are feminine looking, some to the extent where it looks like a female head was placed on a male body. You can say it's a style considering it is harder to find a masculine mod. I do, in fact, like my boys feminine (:

:bulletblack: Are they gay?/Do they have sexualities?
Due to my family's stand-point on homosexuality, I've always avoided representing sexual orientations. In the novel I also avoid giving them sexualities for the most part to stay clear of writing anything controversial. Though, I have established preferences:

:bulletgreen: Lucien: Presumed Bisexual. (Unfortunately Lucien has some commitment and self-esteem issues so he goes about with anyone who will accept him. Whether he is truly attracted to both genders or not, we may never know XD When Matthias asks if he's bi he often answers with "I'm not bi, I'm bored.")
:bulletgreen: Matthais: Presumed homosexual. (Mostly left unspecified; though he is often depicted as Lucien's partner)
:bulletgreen: Seraphim: Asexual. (Due to his inhuman like aurora he is not expressed with any sort of sexual preference. Though if he did have to have a 'partner' it would be female)
:bulletgreen: Skylar: "Girls still have kooties"

:bulletblack: How'd you decide on their names?
Well of course they're all named off of the character's they're resembling, but I did sit down and think about it. I was really big in to greek names so a lot of name(s) for all my characters have Greek roots.

:bulletgreen: Lucien's fullname is Lucienus, which is Greek influenced. When I first discovered the name I had pronounced Lucien "loo-SEE-en", but after playing a song written by a "Lucien" I heard my band director say the proper pronunciation which was "loo-shen" and changed the way I said it. Lucienus is pronounced "loo-shen-us"
:bulletgreen: Matthias is a Greek and German influenced name. I am not sure why I chose this name, but I've always liked it for a boy's name and it's on the list of "potential baby names" for me. I guess that is why I chose it. I first heard it when my friend had a baby, and this was his name. It is pronounced "Ma-theaus"
:bulletgreen: Seraphim, wow this is a long story. Seraphim went through several names. He went from the company name Asura to an alternate name "Ashura" but I didn't like this. I named him Dimnah, after I heard the name in a book, for the longest time... until I looked up the meaning of it. Turns out it means "Dunghill" so I immediately started coming up with other names. Another idea was "Seraphia" which I had heard in the same book, but it seemed too feminine. I looked up names that meant "Fire" because of his appearance and "Seraphim" came up. I instantly loved the name since it was so close to "Seraphia" and it meant "Burning One" It is also the name of high ranking Angels in Jewish scripture; which with his wings and "high rank aurura" I thought was perfect. Turns out "Seraphim" was a nickname my grandfather gave me years ago... that I had forgotten about. So I guess that is where I first heard it (:
:bulletgreen: Skylar. Nothing interesting about his name D: His original name was "Edree" (Ed-reh) which my sister named him; but I didn't care for it. So upon handing him over to me, I chose Skylar, because I thought he "looked" like a Skylar. Which actually was what my sister originally was going to name him, so it worked out.

Can I...?

:bulletblack: Use them as references for my RP/FC or OC?
No. All dolls are based off my own characters, so it would techinically be stealing. Also if you do so, and once I get copyrighted (which I have full intent on) you can be facing copyright issues. Refer to "You say they come from a story" under "Personal questions"

:bulletblack: Can I use them as a drawing/pose reference?
Yes, but you HAVE to credit the photo you used as the reference. And please let me know, I want to see your work (:

:bulletblack: Can I post your work outside of dA?
Please do not :/

------------

Personal Questions:

:bulletblack: How do you afford them?
To be honest, I do not like this question very much. My finacial stand-point is of no ones concern. But, for the sake of not leaving this question in the air lets just say I save, a lot and often put aside work money, holiday and birthday money, and prioritizing. I will also ask for them for Christmas (Lucien and Matthias were both Christmas gifts)

:bulletblack: What makes you want dolls? Do you not find them creepy?
Nope, I do not find them creepy. I think they are incredibly beautiful and highly enjoy partaking in the hobby. I discovered the hobby through dA after stumbling across ABJD photography. I immediately fell in love with them and their life-like features.

:bulletblack: How does your family and friends react to your interest in dolls?
My family doesn't care. Often times my mom and sister will compliment how cute they are (my dad still hasn't gotten over the whole 'anatomically correct' thing yet XD) Depending on which social group I am dealing with: Anime/manga/convention friends and school/band friends, the opinions can vary. Most of my friend's I've met through conventions so a lot have their own dolls and/or share my love for dolls. Friends from band/school, well they often times find everything I do incredibly weird; so when they say "your dolls are creepy", I never care haha.

:bulletblack: Your descriptions say they came from a novel?
Yes, they come from a novel I am writing. I take my dolls and name and style them according to characters I have created for the story. Matthias, is the main character while Lucien follows shortly behind in importance. While Seraphim is in the book, I have yet to dress and style him accordingly.

Skylar is an exception to this because he was originally my sister's doll. She decided she had no interest in the hobby after receiving him, so I got him. While it's not impossible for him to end up a character (I've been considering it), currently he still plays no role.

:bulletblack: Are you the type that believes they have souls/personalities?
Considering they're based off of characters, indeed I believe they take on personalities. I do not, however, believe they have souls. While it is fun to believe they are alive, it's just imagination.

If you're the type that likes to know in depth, you can always ask me for a description of their personalities XD

If I think of any other questions/get asked unanswered questions, I will update this.
